How to Play Wend

  1. 1.

Find every hidden word. Boards come in three sizes — 5×5, 6×6 and 7×7 — with four to seven words, from 3 to 8 letters long.

  2. 2.

Connect adjacent letters horizontally or vertically — never diagonally. Words bend around the gray walls.

  3. 3.

Every open letter tile must be used exactly once, and words cannot share tiles.

  4. 4.

Drag across the tiles to trace a word and release to submit. Use Hint, Undo or Reset whenever you need them.

That is the whole rulebook. For a worked example, a practice board and the in-game tools, read the full how-to-play guide, then speed up with Wend tips & strategy.

Wend Game vs LinkedIn Wend

About Wend Game

Wend Game is the free online way to play Wend, the daily word puzzle that feels like part word search, part jigsaw. You're handed a grid dotted with gray walls and a few empty rows that tell you only how long each hidden word is. Boards come in three sizes — 5×5, 6×6 and 7×7 — with four to seven words to find, from three to eight letters long. Drag across adjacent tiles (up, down, left or right — never diagonally) to trace a word, and release to lock it in. Every open letter has to be used exactly once, and no two words can share a tile, so finding the words is only half the challenge: you also have to fit them together so the whole board is covered.

The gray blocks aren't decoration. They're fixed before you start, carving out the shape each word has to wind through, and they're what guarantees every Wend board has exactly one solution. Stuck? Use a hint to clear a wrong path or reveal a word, undo your last move, or reset the board and start fresh.

A brand-new Wend puzzle arrives every day. When you finish today's, keep the momentum going with unlimited boards, or revisit any earlier puzzle from the archive. Wend runs in any browser on phone, tablet or desktop — free, with no sign-in required.
